This position is part of the in-house Tax team and is focused on managing indirect tax compliance, governance, and controls across our global operations. The role will ensure the effective operation of VAT compliance and reporting processes, including the preparation of accurate balance sheet reconciliations. Working closely with our Tax Transformation function, you’ll help identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities. You’ll also manage a small team to support delivery of the indirect tax compliance agenda. Collaboration with senior tax advisors will be key in maintaining ongoing compliance with tax legislation and driving strategic change.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end compliance processes, ensuring accurate and timely indirect tax filings and payments globally.
- Liaise with third-party compliance providers, Accounts Payable, and Financial Accounting teams.
- Lead and develop a small team (approximately three people), providing day-to-day supervision and long-term growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with senior tax stakeholders to define strategic priorities for the indirect tax function.
- Implement and test changes to systems and processes to maintain legislative compliance.
- Deliver VAT training to the wider finance team.
- Continuously improve indirect tax processes and controls for efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide data and insights to support responses to tax authority queries and audits.
- Work with Technology and Finance teams to identify and resolve data issues and mitigate risks.
- Drive and deliver automation initiatives across indirect tax processes.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of tax processes and controls.
- Support external audit requests with appropriate documentation.
- Champion and contribute to company-wide Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts.
About you
- A professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g., ATT, ACCA, ACA) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience managing UK and international indirect tax compliance, including exposure to US operations.
- Strong leadership experience with a track record of developing successful teams.
- Experience in managing tax audits and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Solution-oriented mindset and proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Adaptable, open to change, and willing to lead transformation initiatives.
