A leading global manufacturer of off highway machinery is currently looking for a Product Procurement Engineer to join their large manufacturing site in Peterlee. The working hours for this role are 37 hours a week (Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 16:00, Friday 07:30 - 12:00).

As a Product Procurement Engineer, you will be responsible for managing part development and quality feedback loops for New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), and New Source Introduction (NSI) related activities. You will achieve this by collaborating with suppliers, design control engineers, value chain engineering, and procurement category teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and cost management activities from concept to PPAP to deliver parts at the right quality, total cost, and on time.
  • Collaborating with various functional areas such as packaging, transportation, business resources, and supply chain.
  • Implementing product supply strategies aligned with category management supply strategies to create a competitive advantage by developing, optimising, and integrating a world-class supply network.
  • Managing quality feedback loops to ensure lessons learned on quality defects are applied across the supply base.
  • Driving Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) through cost modelling, design for manufacturability, and leveraging supplier's capabilities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired.
  • Extensive experience in supplier management and product development (around 5 years' experience, preferably in an automotive background).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for dealing with internal and external partners.
  • Knowledge and understanding of APQP, PPAP, and AIAG.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Supplier management skills.
