About The Company

Beaumont College is a specialist college which provides highly personalised pathways for special school leavers, and we support them in the journey to become adults, and to live independent and fulfilling lives as far as possible. Our main college is located on a 7 acre site with a wide range of accommodation for students to live and learn.

As part of the therapy team, you will be working with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to support students to reach their full potential with their health and wellbeing and prepare for adulthood including hydrotherapy, exercise programmes and supporting young people to use specialist therapy equipment. The Beaumont College family work closely together to provide opportunities for special school leavers to prepare for full and busy lives as adults. Empathy, patience and understanding of special educational needs or a willingness and aptitude to learn are key to the postholder's appointment.

The role is 28 hours over 4 days (Mon-Fri).

About The Role

  • Salary: £15,247.5 - £15,857.76 Pro Rata. £25,396.8 - £36,416 FTE

Job Responsibilities:

This document outlines the duties required at the current time to indicate the level of responsibility.   • Support at Hydrotherapy. This involves:
  • Co-ordinating student support for the session
  • Co-ordinating risk assessment of swimming and hydrotherapy
  • Organising transport
  • Attending the sessions
  • Supporting students in the water
  • Taking part in staff training for hydrotherapy
  • Potentially also to be life guard for the session (not necessity for the role)
  • Support in sessions – facilitating use of therapy equipment within the education sessions, confidence supporting education and support staff to use therapeutic equipment safely.
  • Carrying out individual exercise sessions under supervision of physiotherapist and occupational therapist.
  • Running of an exercise group – stretch and chill or yoga, under supervision/guidance of physiotherapist.
  • Assisting OTs in implementing graded programmes to support students to develop independence skills. This might include teaching life skills, building confidence with powered wheelchair driving.
  • Some admin support to the physiotherapy and OT team. This includes yearly review of risk assessments to therapy equipment and setting up of new protocols on the computer for incoming students.
  • Use of Nourish and uploading of relevant documentation.
  • Training and mentoring the wider staff team via an MDT approach and sharing of best practice to support the social model of disability.
