We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Systems Engineer to play a key role in the development and integration of cutting-edge electric traction and drive systems. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of innovative ETA (Electric Traction Architecture) products and solutions into a variety of customer vehicles and equipment platforms. This is a technically diverse and strategic role that will see you contribute across the full product lifecycle—from requirements definition to system delivery—while engaging directly with customers, prospects, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of ETA product families for integration into customer systems, ensuring compliance and safety standards are met.
- Take ownership of technical specifications and requirements across vehicle and system development projects.
- Deliver engineering solutions on time, to quality, and within budget.
- Support project and programme management activities for both internal and customer-facing initiatives.
- Define system-level requirements, targets, and goals for new and evolving products.
- Decompose system requirements across motor, controller, and software components.
- Act as a mentor and coach to junior systems engineers, supporting professional development.
- Ensure full compliance with UK and international regulations and standards.
- Build strong working relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and product development.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong understanding of electric drive systems, harness development, CAN protocols, and Battery Management Systems (BMS).
- Proven experience in system-level design, requirement management, and system modelling.
- Demonstrated ability to define, decompose, and manage complex engineering requirements.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams on vehicle or powertrain integration projects.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Leadership qualities with experience mentoring engineering teams.
Desirable:
- Experience working on automotive, defence, or heavy-duty vehicle projects.
- Familiarity with compliance and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262).
