Salary: ÂŁ35,000 - ÂŁ40,000 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

This role does not offer sponsorship. As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Vocational Teacher to join our close-knit team at Parkside House School located in Backworth.

About the role

To deliver high-quality vocational education and training to students enrolled in Hospitality & Catering and/or Hair & Beauty programs. The role involves planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, supporting practical skills development, and preparing learners for qualifications and employment in their chosen industry.

Knowledge and Understanding

  • The school’s vision, aims, priorities, targets, curriculum policies and action plans;
  • Any statutory curriculum requirements and the requirements for assessment, recording and reporting of pupils’ attainment and progress;
  • The characteristics of high-quality teaching and the main strategies for improving and sustaining high standards of teaching, learning and achievement for all pupils;
  • Management, including employment law, equal opportunities legislation, personnel, external relations, finance and change;
  • The implications of the code of practice of special educational needs for teaching and learning.

  • UK QTS or equivalent
  • Previous experience in Hospitality & Catering and/or Hair & Beauty

Parkside House School is an Independent Special School. Our school aims to provide a high-quality education package to pupils who have difficulties in relating to education or others within a mainstream setting. The school is registered to accommodate 35 pupils from 10 – 18 years; we specialise in teaching pupils with Emotional, Social and Behavioural needs, and with other associated learning and cognitive difficulties. The aim of the site is to provide enough support to unlock each pupil’s potential so they can live fulfilling and productive lives.
