We are currently seeking an experienced Joinery Workshop Manager to lead the daily operations of a busy bespoke joinery workshop based in Hitchin (SG5). This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and hands-on professional to join a respected company delivering high-quality, made-to-measure joinery products.
Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire (SG5)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
The Role:
As the Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the joinery workshop, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standard, on time, and within budget. You’ll work closely with the design and production teams to interpret drawings, manage workflow, and maintain a safe, productive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day workshop operations and production schedules
- Supervise and coordinate the workshop team
- Ensure quality control throughout the manufacturing process
- Interpret and work from technical drawings
- Manage workshop health & safety in line with regulations
- Maintain and monitor joinery machinery and equipment
- Liaise with project managers and other departments to ensure timely delivery
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing a joinery workshop – essential
- Strong understanding of bespoke joinery manufacturing processes and machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A proactive, hands-on approach to leadership
- Formal qualifications in carpentry/joinery – desirable but not essential
