Department: Engineering

Reporting to: General Engineering Manager

Working Hours: 39 hours per week. 8 hours per day Monday to Thursday (excluding 30-minute unpaid lunch break) and 7 hours per day Friday (excluding 30-minute unpaid lunch break). These hours can be worked flexibly starting between 7.00am and 8.30am daily. You may be expected on occasion to work later in the evening or weekends as business needs require.

The Role: You will be responsible for managing new contracts from the agreed job description requirements, through the design stages to the point of issuing design drawings. Once the project reaches the production stage, you will support the manufacturing departments to ensure a smooth and effective completion of the build. For new product design and ongoing product improvement, you will be contributing towards the design activities as part of cross-functional design teams to continually upgrade and improve the range of standard product designs.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assess and review customer requirements with, and include technical support for, the Sales team
  • Project design to ensure customer requirements are converted into effective design solutions
  • Creation of bill of material records including standard and non-standard parts
  • Purchasing materials and involvement in the procurement processes
  • The creation and management of engineering drawings, documents and records
  • Supporting manufacturing throughout the build and completion process
  • Provide input and contribute to standard product design improvements

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Experience of and ability to work to tight project deadlines
  • Organised and proactive with a systematic approach to design
