As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for the efficient planning and coordination of daily vehicle movements across the UK. Your role ensures that all transport operations run smoothly, effectively, and in full compliance with UK road transport regulations.

Salary: Up to £34,000 plus car allowance (DOE)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective transport plans for general haulage operations to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate the allocation and utilisation of vehicles for general haulage to meet operational needs, ensuring maximum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Liaise with drivers to communicate schedules, provide job details, and address any queries or on-road issues.
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers, providing updates on deliveries, handling any transport-related inquiries, and resolving service issues promptly.
- Ensure all general haulage operations comply with relevant regulations, including health and safety, environmental policies, and legal requirements.
- Handle any day-to-day issues, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or delivery changes, ensuring minimal disruption to schedules.
- Maintain accurate records for all transport activities, including delivery notes, route logs, and compliance documents.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as on-time delivery rates and vehicle efficiency, to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience required:
- Proven experience in transport planning, particularly within the general haulage sector.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
- Knowledge of TOPS system.
- Experience within a multi customer based operation.
- Proficiency in transport planning software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of transport compliance and health & safety regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with customers, drivers, and internal teams.
- A proactive problem solver with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
