About the Role
You will be responsible for managing the design process on industrial projects from pre-construction through to completion. Working closely with the pre-con, planning, and delivery teams, you will ensure the seamless coordination of design information across all project stages.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the design process from tender through to handover
- Liaise with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve design issues
- Lead design meetings and workshops
- Review and comment on drawings, specifications, and technical submittals
- Monitor design progress against programme and report to senior stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and design standards
- Identify and manage design-related risks and opportunities
- Support value engineering and innovation throughout the design phase
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Design Manager working for a main contractor
- Experience delivering industrial schemes (e.g. warehouses, data centres)
- Confident managing the full design process on site and at pre-con stage
- Strong coordination, communication, and technical review skills
- Flexible to work between office, site, and home as needed
- Must be flexible to work in London and the neighbouring home counties
- Relevant qualifications in architecture, engineering, or construction management
