Brownlee Cale is working with a Primary Contractor on a highways project in Cornwall to hire a contract QS for a period of 4 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management & Reporting: Prepare reports on costs, value, profit/loss, cash flow, and budgets; forecast and track financial performance.
  • Commercial Risk Management: Identify, analyze, and mitigate commercial risks with the project team.
  • Contract Management: Prepare and manage contracts, payment applications, and certificates; ensure compliance with contract terms and regulations.
  • Procurement & Supply Chain: Assist with procurement, negotiate contracts, and manage subcontractor agreements.
  • Liaison & Communication: Work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and customers; prepare meeting packs, take minutes, and provide contractual advice.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Oversight: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; report and manage risks.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of industry experience in a Civil Engineering environment.
  • Technical & Legal Knowledge: Understanding of construction contracts, legal requirements, and health & safety regulations; experience in drafting contractual documents.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills; ability to collaborate and lead teams.
  • Qualifications: RICS/CICES accredited degree or enrollment in an accredited post-graduate degree program with relevant experience.
