Cumming Management Group, a Cost and Project Management Consultancy within the construction industry, provides a wide range of services to clients spanning several different sectors. Cumming Management Group are seeking to recruit a Senior Cost Manager in Manchester.
The role of a Senior Cost Manager includes the following responsibilities:
- The individual will be an integral part of a team that is accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of various projects.
- Provide cost management services through pre and post contract process.
- To support clients and the team in client presentation and new works.
- To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.
- To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures.
- Comply with established commercial/procurement/contractual strategies.
- Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
- Develop relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
- Drafting, advising and executing the procurement strategies.
Key Attributes:
- The ability to prepare indicative cost budgets and appraisals.
- Preparation of elemental cost plans.
- Provide advice and opinion in respect of our client development plans and expectations.
- Market testing of key elements for the developments.
- Data analysis on design efficiencies, benchmark comparison.
- Preparing and issuing tender documents.
- Running tender processes including managing queries from tendering contractors.
- Scrutinising and verifying applications for interim payments.
- Managing change control in accordance with contracts.
- Producing cost reports and cost forecasting.
- Assisting project managers in preparing Early Warnings, Instructions and Compensation Events.
- Promote commercial awareness throughout project.
- Advising and liaising with internal project and cost control team.
- Developing Commercial Strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline.
- Strong technical delivery experience.
- Experience in hotel and residential projects desirable.
- MRICS or working towards Chartered status.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Ability to successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner.
- Strong cost planning experience.
- Experience of providing procurement advice, tender documentation and post contract services.
- Client facing, ensuring a high standard of delivery.
- Previously employed by a consultancy or end user client.
- A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines.
