We are currently recruiting for an experienced interim Head of Service – Housing to provide strategic and operational leadership across a broad range of housing services. This is a pivotal role within the Operational Management Board, offering an opportunity to influence and shape housing outcomes at a senior level.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery, development and performance of Housing Needs & Homelessness, Tenancy Services, Rent, and Private Sector Housing functions.
- Drive forward housing strategies, business plans and policies aligned with customer-centric service delivery.
- Provide effective leadership to ensure services reduce homelessness and rough sleeping, increase the provision of affordable housing, and improve housing standards.
- Collaborate across internal departments and with external partners to foster innovation and drive service improvement.
- Represent housing services within the senior leadership team, ensuring alignment with wider organisational objectives.
- Ensure full compliance with housing legislation and relevant policies while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Promote tenant engagement and co-production through forums and local involvement initiatives.
- Oversee effective income recovery strategies to ensure financial resilience and value for money.
- Champion workforce development and succession planning within the housing team.
Requirements:
- Extensive senior management experience within the housing sector.
- Strong leadership credentials with a track record of service transformation and stakeholder collaboration.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, with a housing-related qualification (Level 5 minimum).
- Chartered membership of CIH or working towards it.
- Proven experience managing significant budgets and delivering cost-effective results.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills, with a solution-focused and resilient mindset.
