This company is seeking a skilled and dedicated Industrial Services Operative to join their team. As an Industrial Services Operative, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to waste collection, environmental compliance, and general housekeeping within the Plating Shop. The Industrial Services Operative will be a vital member of the Plating Shop team, supporting the company's Laboratory and plating operations.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Properly packaging and labeling special/hazardous waste, and transporting it to the designated storage location
- Maintaining the shop floor, Pit, Effluent treatment Plant, and surrounding area to high 5S standards
- Topping up process tanks as instructed by the company chemists
- Removing waste bags from the shop floor and transporting them to the designated storage location
- Preparing all waste for collection by the waste handling company on the designated day
- Keeping chrome/nickel/cadmium tank lips and bus bars clean of residue build-up
- Cleaning residue from plating shop tanks as required to ensure good product quality and safety
- Assisting with the weekly servicing of plating shop systems using a Jet-washer
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the use of PPE in an industrial setting and prior experience in handling hazardous waste. Experience in the aviation industry and COMAH awareness are considered beneficial.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be a strong team player with the ability to work independently, manage your time effectively, and maintain performance under pressure. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the willingness to learn new skills and share knowledge with the team.
