Location – Hybrid working. Mostly remote but visits to our Bath office will be necessary.

This is an exciting and equally critical role as we embark on our ambitious modernisation and transformation journey, and we’re looking for a forward thinking, motivated and proactive individual to help propel our Technology growth.

This is a vital role in the transformation of our current technology across L&C. You will play a key part in bridging the gap between business and technology needs, identifying opportunities for improvement through evaluation of processes and producing technical solutions that align with business requirements. You will have responsibility for various architecture projects and programmes, assisting in developing technical strategy, and evaluation and oversight of appropriate engineering resources and technologies to deliver suitable solutions in a timely and cost effective manner. You will need to be able to conduct assessments, in order to identify and address any potential technical risks which may hinder progress.

You’ll also work closely with the Technology Team and Senior Stakeholders across the business, communicating solution designs, technical decisions and project progress, to both a technical and non-technical audience. You’ll take ownership of arising problems through to resolution, delivering prompt results and showcasing a professional representation of the Technology Department.

We’re looking for a seasoned IT Engineer or Architect, with ample demonstrable knowledge and experience with overseeing projects, working to timescales and ensuring deadlines are met. You’ll need robust knowledge on all aspects of IT engineering, cloud engineering and system integration, with ample understanding of IAC and Cloud Design. As we embark on our transformation journey, we need individuals who are highly resourceful and have excellent judgement ability and analytical skills, who are able to make important decisions based on business requirements and current problems, translating them into solutions.

You’ll need to be clued up on cloud governance and best practices, with a sound understanding of technology risk, ensuring all solutions are suitable, secure and compliant with security practices and data regulations, with a proactive approach to taking remedial action when needed. Additionally, you’ll be equipped with excellent written and verbal skills, able to communicate and work effectively across all levels of the Technology Team and wider business stakeholders, including those within a non-technical audience, able to provide comprehensive support and updates on projects.

You’ll be a keen learner, with an eagerness to remain up to date and informed on the latest technologies, trends and best practices within the field, with a focus on continuous self-improvement to further your own, and in turn the companies, success.
