Underwaterpistol (UWP) is looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to join our growing agency. You’ll be stepping into a pivot agency role as our technical figurehead. This is a critical role in both coaching and supporting our dev team and delivering best-in-class ecommerce experiences on Shopify Plus.
What You’ll Do
- Act as technical figurehead, working with developers to remove blockers, ideate and shape best-in-class technical solutions and guiding architectural decisions
- Lead and mentor a talented team of developers, owning 1:1s, coaching, performance reviews within the dev teams
- Collaborate closely with project managers, designers, and strategists to ensure smooth and scalable project delivery within the technical disciplines
- Maintain high standards for code quality, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing
- Champion innovation within the team and keep us sharp on new Shopify and web technologies
What You Bring
- Extensive experience with Shopify (including Plus), Liquid, and the broader Shopify ecosystem
- Proven leadership skills — empathetic, emotionally intelligent, and technically assertive
- Strong front-end chops (React, TypeScript, CSS) and understanding of modern build pipelines
- Ability to support across multiple projects, balancing billable work and internal technical leadership
- Comfortable operating remotely in a distributed team and within a fast-paced agency environment
Nice to Haves
- Experience mentoring developers in an agency or ecommerce setting
- A track record of championing initiatives or introducing tooling improvements across dev teams
- Familiarity with headless Shopify builds, Hydrogen and Shopify Functions
