We are recruiting experienced MIG & TIG Welder Fabricators (Field Based) to join our prestigious client in Derby! This is an exciting field-based role working on rolling stock, involving both fabrication and repairs of metal components across the UK. You will be based on-site in Derby approximately 20% of the time and spend 80% of your time traveling to customer sites, including locations like Doncaster, London, and Newcastle. Some sites will be commutable, while others may require overnight stays; flexibility to travel and stay away is essential (all expenses are covered). This is a Full-Time, Permanent role with excellent progression opportunities!
What you’ll be doing:
- Interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminium
- Execute positional welding (overhead, vertical, flat, horizontal)
- Fabricate and repair metal components for rolling stock
- Conduct inspections to ensure weld quality and compliance
- Collaborate with engineering/maintenance teams to enhance processes
- Maintain safe and clean work environments
- Travel to customer depots and worksites as required
Hours: Monday-Thursday 7am-3:30pm & 7am-12pm on Friday
Pay: £18.13 - £19.62 per hour, Overtime paid at £27.20 - £29.43 per hour
Skills/Experience Required:
- Proven MIG/TIG welding and fabrication experience
- Strong positional welding skills (overhead, vertical, flat, and horizontal)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- A valid UK driving licence
- Willingness and flexibility to travel and stay away from home
- High attention to detail and strong communication skills
- Familiarity with welding tools, safety standards, and equipment
