We are excited to be partnering exclusively with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust in Coventry to recruit a Financial Planning and Treasury Accountant. The role is paying £56,000 plus benefits.
The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is a registered charity established in 1988, based in Coventry. They employ over 1250 staff, with a turnover of over £65m plus over £70m of property sales, offering 4199 homes for older people. Their vision is 'Better Lives for Older People' and their mission is to 'Create sustainable communities that provide homes older people want, lifestyles they can enjoy and care if it is needed.'
To deliver their vision and mission they essentially do three things:
- Develop new villages.
- Operate villages and schemes.
- Support their villages, schemes and their 'extra-care' model through fundraising, advocacy & research.

Since 1988, ExtraCare has been the UK's leading not-for-profit pioneer for retirement living, opening villages and schemes around their Midlands base and further South. As a charity, their surpluses are re-invested into charitable activities - helping them provide better services and support.
Financial Planning and Treasury Accountant:
- Lead and manage the treasury function for the Charity, ensuring there is always sufficient liquidity and compliance with policies and banking covenants.
- Provide high-quality financial modelling and data analysis to support the Charity in strategic decision making.
- Discuss outcomes and options of financial modelling to non-finance colleagues/wider stakeholders and support strategic decision making.
- Maintain robust short to long term forecasts for the Charity's financial performance and cashflow.
- Play a key part in the reporting and monitoring of internal and external benchmarking, help to identify cost or revenue opportunities, maximise value for money and maintain a focus on ensuring compliance with the regulatory economic standards.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts, ensuring that key risks and sensitivities are identified, analysed and reported.
- Assist in the preparation of papers for the Board and Committees.
- Undertake development appraisals to inform business planning decisions.
- Maintain short, mid and long-term cash flow forecasts and monitor anticipated borrowing requirements.
- Organise short term liquidity in accordance with the Treasury Management Policy to ensure that required funds are available and that returns on investments are maximised.
- Build and maintain (with the Head of Finance and Executive Director Corporate Resources) a strong relationship with funding organisations, valuers and legal firms supporting ExtraCare.
- Support with the preparation and production of the annual report and accounts and support the annual external audit process.
- Support the Head of Finance with ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.
This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure where applicable, two satisfactory references, medical clearance and Home Office right to work clearance.
It is essential you are a Qualified Accountant - ACA, CGMA (CIMA), ACCA, CIPFA or equivalent.
- Proven experience in the areas of financial planning, control and reporting.
- Ability to lead and develop cash flow planning and forecasting.
- Excellent spreadsheet modelling skills.
- Proven experience of communicating effectively with finance professionals and operational managers.
- Good strategic thinker with the ability to problem solve complex issues.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to engage productively with a wide variety of people.

Financial Planning and Treasury Accountant:
- £56,000 per annum.
- 37.5 hours per week.
- 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays.
