Job Purpose:

  • To design and issue food process equipment into manufacture for customer contracts.
  • To develop the Baker Perkins equipment range through continuous improvement and new equipment development projects.
  • To provide technical support to all relevant business areas, including sales, manufacturing/assembly, installation/commission, and customer services.

Job description:

  • Design mechanical equipment and systems, to achieve our customers' specifications and meet Baker Perkins standards and quality procedures.
  • Generate all associated engineering drawings, calculations, specifications and part lists for manufacturing and assembly purposes.
  • Support manufacturing/assembly/installation and commission to resolve any design issues, maintaining technical ownership throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support Sales and Customer Services departments as a mechanical engineering and equipment expert.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and develop existing equipment as well as developing new equipment.
  • Proactively contribute new ideas, drive innovation, and seek continuous improvement in our tools, processes, and products.

Required profile:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or above) or similar level of experience.
  • Experience designing original capital equipment such as Food & Beverage (Bakery, Biscuits, Confectionary industry, for example), O&G, Pharmaceuticals.
  • Fluent in the use of 3D CAD packages and experience of PLM Software.
  • Able to perform mechanical calculations and/or analysis to support design activity.
  • Solution-driven and customer-oriented approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise accordingly.
  • Strong ability to self-lead and work effectively within a team.
  • Experience with EN ISO Standards, EU Directives and CE marking desirable.
  • Any knowledge of pressure vessel design or designing for ATEX environments would be advantageous.
