About the Opportunity

We are currently supporting a well-established advisory firm specialising in technical and strategic services for the global energy industry. They are seeking a skilled Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join their multidisciplinary team on a contract basis, working on exciting projects across traditional and emerging energy sectors. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional with experience in C&I packages, who is confident working within the oil and gas environment and ready to take on diverse front-end engineering challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver C&I engineering across all project stages, with a focus on FEED and EPC scopes
  • Prepare and validate technical documents, including design philosophies, specifications, procedures, standards, and data sheets
  • Provide control and instrumentation expertise for multi-discipline studies and technical reports
  • Conduct engineering assessments and investigative studies in line with client objectives
  • Support and participate in safety reviews such as HAZOP and LOPA
  • Ensure designs comply with project specifications and applicable safety and quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with process, safety, and other engineering teams to develop robust control and safeguarding systems

Required Experience & Skills

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (Control, Instrumentation, Electrical or similar)
  • Proven experience working on Control & Instrumentation packages within the oil and gas sector
  • Broad understanding of instrumentation, control systems, and telecoms across large-scale energy projects
  • Strong working knowledge of international codes and standards related to C&I design
  • Experience in front-end design studies highly desirable
  • Familiarity with safety integrity levels (SIL), functional safety, and associated risk assessments beneficial
