Our privately owned investment client is urgently seeking an experienced Paralegal for a 12m contract.
Located in Central London, hours 9-5pm, with only 1 day required in the office.
The successful person will join as a member of their UK/European Legal and Compliance Team, reporting into a European, MD of Risk & Compliance, located at their London office.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting Board and Committee governance matters for the company’s subsidiaries in the UK and a European location, including scheduling meetings, assisting in the production of meeting materials, and drafting meeting minutes as needed.
- Performing AML/KYC processes for onboarding of new clients and as part of regular reviews.
- Assisting the Managing Director, Risk & Compliance with the review of contracts including outsourcing agreements, services agreements, client agreements.
- Helping their Client Relations team to understand marketing requirements for the company’s funds and investment services for regions outside of the US.
- Working with the European Managing Director, Risk & Compliance to assess the impact of regulations applicable to the company’s UK and EU offices.
- Managing registration and renewal of the company’s funds in regions outside of the US - primarily in Europe (including UCITS and AIFMD passporting).
- Reviewing offer documents, marketing and other materials.
- Coordinating powers-of-attorney (including notarisations etc.) and translation services and acting as liaison point for various third party service providers.
- Reviewing compliance and risk policies and procedures.
- Assisting in the preparation and review of regulatory filings.
- Assisting with Know-Your-Customer requests from banks and other institutions with which they do business.
- To generally assist with other legal and compliance matters and projects as may be needed.
Successful candidate:
- 3-5 years of experience working in the investment management industry. Knowledge of EU and UK fund marketing and registration requirements highly regarded.
- Working knowledge of MiFID II. Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Careful and consistent attention to detail.
- Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with persons at all levels of the organisation and external service providers.
- Must have a strong work ethic with the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a high level of quality and have the ability to successfully manage a large number of competing needs. A team player attitude.
- Flexible, able to work independently, manage and take ownership of projects, analyse situations and identify potential solutions with the willingness to assist in whatever is needed to complete the task.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Word, document management and version comparisons (redlines).
- A general understanding of the financial services and fund industry is an advantage.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner with strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. Unquestionable integrity and ethics.
