Assistant Buyer - The Company: Our client is a rapidly expanding and industry leading specialist contractor with offices across the M4 corridor from Cardiff to London. The company can offer the complete package of Design, Installation and Maintenance of unified structured data cabling systems for modern day business connectivity (Cat 5e, 6, 6a, 7). With over 30 years’ experience delivering projects in both the public and private sectors and working with leading Tier 1 main contractors and also direct to client on sectors including: Government Departments, Data Centres, Educational establishments, correctional institutions, health care establishments. Projects are regularly over £1 million as part of major construction projects nationwide.
Assistant Buyer - The Role: Due to growth and expansion, a fantastic opportunity for a construction Buyer to join the regional commercial team to assist in company wide procurement both direct and indirect, materials and sub-contract. This position will report to the Commercial Manager and work closely with project teams to streamline and increase efficiency in materials and sub-contract procurement.
Typical duties & responsibilities:
- Implementation of relevant procurement systems and processes where required
- ERP and data input
- Sub-contractor vetting and insurance checks
- Assist with material specification at design stage for large projects
- Generate tender documentation, seek competitive quotations, negotiate the best possible price and place orders for all materials purchased directly by the company
- Negotiate Group term deals, fixed price agreements and retrospective rebates.
- Establish and maintain a library of products and prices.
- Assist the Commercial Manager / QS in cost exercises, tender analysis and pricing purchaser’s extras
- Control the Company’s use of plant and hired equipment.
- Highlight any discrepancies on drawings.
Assistant Buyer - The Person:
- You will ideally have procurement/Buying experience with either a construction main contractor or specialist contractor
- Innovative - ability to identify better ways of doing things
- A good team player, someone who wants to be part of a growing business to achieve common goals.
- Commutable daily to a Weston-Super-Mare HQ
