We are working with a local client who design and manufacture bespoke products predominantly for the power industry. Due to growth, they are looking for a driven design engineer to join their dynamic CAD department. The successful candidate will have previous experience in designing motors & generators or heavy rotating equipment.
Job Overview
Working with SolidWorks to implement electrical and mechanical design specifications into detailed manufacturing drawings for production. This could be for complete machines or individual components. Liaising with production to see projects through the manufacture process and onward to customer delivery. Producing 3D models to be used for analysis in Ansys.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Production of accurate manufacturing drawings.
- Production of full assembly drawings & parts lists from manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Modifications and revision of design drawings.
- Ability to understand engineering materials, properties & manufacturing processes of these materials.
- Aid production with troubleshooting and design improvements.
Qualifications/Experience
The successful candidate must have a minimum of HND or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related subjects. Experience in drawing office methods & practices combined with good factory floor knowledge of machining & assembly processes. Good all-round knowledge of 2D/3D CAD systems as well as Microsoft Office. Experience with SolidWorks / SolidWorks PDM or similar CAD software. Ability to work as part of a strong team, as well as making informed decisions when working alone at site, either in the UK or abroad. Certifications of any training, in house or otherwise, would be advantageous. A full driving license & current passport would be a distinct advantage.
