Cheetham Hill Construction is a family run business which has been operating for over 55 years. We value loyalty and fairness and have many members of the team who have been with the company over 25 years. You will not just be a number but an integral team member with chances to receive more training and the opportunity to progress. You will play a crucial role in supporting the continuous flow of new business through the Company. We conduct a wide variety of civil engineering and construction contracts, ranging in value from £5,000 to £15 million for an increasingly broad spectrum of clients. Ideally, you will have already worked in a similar role for a civil engineering contractor, pricing works involving earthworks, concrete, drainage, and remediation.
We work on frameworks for High-End clients, utility providers and local authorities throughout the North of England.
What you will be doing:
- Prepare analytical estimates for incoming enquiries, preparing for take offs, materials, subcontractor awards where necessary, outlining programmes for costs of works and conducting any site visits, all in the process of creating successful tender bids on behalf of Cheetham Hill.
- Review tender information to assess issues that may unfold, producing accurate quantities where necessary, compiling comprehensive enquiries for subcontractors and other resources and negotiating all Terms and Conditions with clients prior to contract award.
- Participate in all tender handover meetings, and any subsequent meetings with the client should they arise.
What you will need:
- Good IT skills, including the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Project beneficial but not essential.
- Ability to review construction drawings and perform quantity take-offs.
- Skill to produce estimates from first principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good time-management and organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
- A professional attitude to representing the Company.
- Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
- Capability to work on multiple tenders and budgets.
