MDE is recruiting on behalf of an international energy organisation for a pivotal role in offshore wind safety. This is an opportunity to drive HSE initiatives across a diverse Offshore Wind portfolio, spanning development, construction, and operational phases. Your expertise will be instrumental in embedding safety from the design stage and ensuring the highest standards during high-risk activities. Collaboration will be key, as you partner with multiple teams to lead incident learning and foster continuous improvement.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a proactive leader who’s passionate about health and safety and ready to make an impact in the offshore wind sector. You’ll be driven to promote behavioural change, ensure compliance with industry standards, and lead by example in every aspect of health and safety management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and enforce strong health and safety practices throughout all stages of projects.
  • Encourage ownership of safety responsibilities and inspire ongoing improvements in safety culture.
  • Design, execute, and oversee comprehensive safety frameworks, protocols, and evaluation processes.
  • Engage with various teams, industry groups, and networks to exchange knowledge and elevate safety standards.
  • Offer specialist guidance on compliance with health and safety laws and emergency response strategies.
  • Facilitate workshops, mentoring, and training to maintain high safety awareness and competence.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly, identifying root causes and implementing strategies to prevent recurrence.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience managing health and safety in project development and operational/multi-site environments.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Desirable experience in engineering, construction, or offshore wind, including high-voltage systems and offshore operations.
  • Chartered IOSH membership (or working towards CMIOSH status).
  • GWO training and certification are advantageous.
  • Ability to work at heights and in offshore environments.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation in the UK & Ireland.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire behavioural change.
  • Competency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
