Following the wider Housing Services Redesign, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Council’s Private Sector Housing Team (PSHT) as a Private Sector Housing Officer.

The PSHT are responsible for wide ranging duties to improve the safety of homes in our area for our residents.

As a Private Sector Housing Officer you will support the Private Sector Housing Manager and Senior Environmental Health Officers to carry out a full range of enforcement, advisory and grant aided activities relating to the Private Sector Housing responsibilities of the Council.

Duties within this role include a full range of enforcement, advisory and grant aided activities in the following areas:-

  • Housing conditions

  • Houses in Multiple Occupation

  • Housing or living conditions giving rise to public health concerns or causing a nuisance, such as filthy or verminous premises

  • The delivery of Disabled Facility and Housing Renewal Grants

  • Arranging public assisted funerals

  • Assist in the training of students and enforcement officers, as necessary

You will have lead responsibility for activities assigned to your role, as considered appropriate by the Private Sector Housing Manager, as well as assisting the Private Sector Housing Manager with providing good customer service and complying with the relevant service standards.

The successful candidate will be subject to a Basic DBS clearance and three years employment referencing.
