Main responsibilities:

  • To plan and deliver a Hospitality and Catering curriculum to KS4 students, supporting them to successfully complete appropriate KS4 qualifications, including the WJEC GCSE Technical Award and the Gateway Vocational Award/Certificate.
  • To undertake the role of tutor, supporting students' social and emotional development, including the delivery of PSHE.
  • Fulfil the professional responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the School Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.
  • Meet the expectations set out in the Teachers Standards.

Key Duties:

  • Plan and teach well-structured lessons to classes, following the school's plans, curriculum and schemes of work.
  • Support students' social and emotional development through the role as tutor, including teaching PSHE, supporting and encouraging disaffected students to engage with education, building effective relationships with parents/carers.
  • Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of students, making accurate and productive use of assessment.
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of students.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge.
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge through well-planned lessons.
  • As a student's key tutor, liaise with schools and other professionals to develop Pupil Passports/support plans for all students, taking account of learning and pastoral needs including safeguarding.
  • Contribute to casework related to the pupils' wider needs, including writing My Plans/My Plans+ or attending multi-agency meetings as reasonably required.
