We are seeking a skilled professional to join a major contractor delivering a high-profile AMP8 project on a wastewater treatment plant in the North West. The Role As a Freelance Senior Site Engineer, you will take the lead on all engineering aspects of the project, ensuring delivery to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. You’ll work closely with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors to keep the project on track and within budget. Key Responsibilities * Managing site engineering activities, including setting out, QA, and compliance with technical specifications. * Providing technical expertise and solving engineering challenges on site. * Overseeing junior engineers and ensuring technical accuracy across all works. * Preparing and reviewing RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) and ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols. * Monitoring progress, producing reports, and liaising with key stakeholders. * Ensuring compliance with AMP8 environmental and quality standards. * Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery. Key Skills & Experience * Demonstrable experience as a Senior Site Engineer, ideally within the water or utilities sectors. * Strong knowledge of civil engineering processes, including earthworks, drainage, foundations, RC structures, and pipework. * Proficient in setting out using total stations, GPS, and AutoCAD. * Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations. * Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with experience managing subcontractors and site teams. * Ability to work independently and take ownership of engineering responsibilities on site. Qualifications * CSCS Card (essential). * SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred). * First Aid at Work (preferred). * Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent (preferred). * Full UK Driving Licence (essential)
