An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified Principal Psychologist in neurorehabilitation to join us and help change the lives of people living with acquired brain injury (ABI). We are seeking a Principal Psychologist capable of ensuring the provision and development of high quality, innovative and evidence based neuropsychological rehabilitation practice.

Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support people to regain the skills they have lost. Rehabilitation is based on a neurobehavioral approach and focuses on enabling service users to function more independently and to participate in as many of their previous roles and activities as possible, while developing their lives with privacy, dignity and respect.

You will provide strategic, professional leadership to the multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team, which includes Assistant Psychologists, Rehabilitation Support Workers, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech and Language Therapists. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Formulating and implementing specialist psychological treatment plans for mental health and adjustment difficulties based on a multi-factorial psychological understanding and current evidence-based best practice.
  • Contributing highly specialist psychological advice to the multi-disciplinary formulation of appropriate therapeutic approaches or intervention plans, and supervising their implementation.
  • Undertaking psychologically based risk assessment and risk management for relevant service users and advising team members appropriately.
  • Supporting Service Managers/Regional Managers in all aspects of managing the service and reporting to the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist.

The successful applicant will have a doctorate in clinical psychology (or equivalent) accredited by the BPS. You will have excellent organisation skills, the ability to prioritise workloads, the ability to administer and interpret a range of psychometric tests, and a track record of conducting clinical research or audit. We are looking for a clinical psychologist with experience in neurorehabilitation, an interest in neuropsychology, and motivated to develop an excellent service further.

Benefits include:

  • £6000 Welcome Bonus
  • 38 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays) (pro rata)
  • Buy and sell up to 5 days annual leave
  • Health Cash Plan (available from June 2025)
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
  • Excellent training and support
  • Enhanced group life assurance
  • Eye voucher scheme
  • Free parking
  • Enhanced Company Pension
  • Long Service and Staff Awards
  • Medical Insurance

All clinical roles have CPD opportunities and we may support further professional development.

Please note: we will be shortlisting and interviewing candidates on a rolling basis until the role is filled therefore, we recommend applying as soon as possible. All successful candidates are subject to compliance checks including 3 years of checkable references and DBS/PVG checks. Brainkind are a Disability Confident Employer. As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the vacancy. It is a place where we recognise, celebrate, and live our values which includes offering a range of inclusive employment policies and staff engagement forums to support employees from all backgrounds.
