We are currently recruiting for a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic and dedicated team at a leading UK charity. The organization is focused on improving the lives of people with brain injuries across the UK. Through our assessment centres, rehabilitation units, and hospitals, we provide expert neurorehabilitation to help individuals regain lost skills. Our services support those with a variety of brain injuries, including those caused by trauma, illness, or substance abuse, to achieve personal goals and enhance their quality of life.

The Service offers rehabilitation to individuals with cognitive, physical, and emotional challenges following severe brain injuries. The rehabilitation process is based on a neurobehavioral approach, focusing on helping service users regain independence and engage in activities and roles that are important to them, all while maintaining privacy, dignity, and respect.

We are looking for a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to provide professional leadership within the team, and you will be expected to work autonomously to deliver high-quality care and support to service users.

  • Provide assessment and intervention as an autonomous speech and language therapist within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with service users and their social networks to identify and overcome barriers.
  • Develop and implement management plans and rehabilitation strategies for communication needs, referring to specialists as needed.
  • Provide training and support to staff and service users' networks.

Requirements:

  • A Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in Acquired Brain Injury (ABI), including social and cognitive communication and communication partner training.
  • Experience in managing complex dysphagia within an adult neurology caseload.
