We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate PRU Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a Pupil Referral Unit located in Luton. This PRU provides support to students who face challenges in mainstream education. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work in a supportive and nurturing environment in Luton, where every day offers new challenges and opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning programs to children with a range of SEN, including behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties.
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to ensure students engage with their learning and reach their full potential.
* Support students with managing their behaviour and emotional well-being using effective strategies and techniques.
* Help to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
* Liaise with the teacher and other professionals, including SENCOs, to monitor and assess student progress.
* Encourage students to develop social skills and build confidence both in and outside of the classroom.
* Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to review meetings.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or similar environment.
* Strong understanding of various SEN needs and effective support strategies.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to managing challenging behaviours.
* Ability to work well within a team and follow the guidance of the teaching staff.
* A proactive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) or equivalent experience.
