A leading national legal practice is seeking a UK-qualified Commercial Solicitor with a specialism or interest in public procurement law to join its highly regarded national procurement team. This opportunity is ideally suited to a junior solicitor with between 1-6 PQE, based in the Midlands region.
The successful candidate will become part of a large, well-established team operating from multiple offices across the UK. The role offers the chance to work on high-profile, complex matters acting on behalf of public sector clients and advising private companies involved in procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:- Advising on all aspects of public procurement law, including strategy, procedure selection, compliance, and regulatory risk.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, particularly those involving public sector engagements.
- Supporting public sector clients through all stages of the procurement lifecycle, including tender preparation, evaluation, and contract management.
- Providing clear, commercially astute advice to both public bodies and private sector clients engaged in procurement activity.
- Collaborating closely with colleagues across the national team to deliver seamless, high-quality legal services.
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 1-6 years' PQE, and solid experience in commercial law.
- Demonstrated expertise in public procurement law, with a working knowledge of applicable UK and EU legislation.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic and solution-focused approach.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to build strong relationships with public and private sector clients.
- Midlands-based, with the ability to travel occasionally to other offices or client sites as needed.
- Experience advising public sector organisations (e.g., local authorities, government departments, or other public bodies).
- Involvement in advising private companies bidding for public contracts.
- Familiarity with framework agreements, concession contracts, and subsidy control.
