Mirion Technologies (IST) design and manufacture a range of CCTV and imaging systems for the inspection, surveillance, and monitoring of numerous applications within industries such as Nuclear (power plants, reprocessing and decommissioning), Cement, Pulp and Paper, Power Generation (gas, coal and oil), Steel, Glass, Petrochemical and Waste Incineration.

We are seeking a talented and experienced engineer to join our Projects & Design team to provide electro-mechanical design and development from concept through to production. You will be creating electronic design solutions from scratch and incorporating off the shelf products where applicable for cameras and imaging systems used within hazardous environments such as nuclear and high temperature industrial applications.

This role requires a professional with extensive experience in Electronics engineering, a strong technical background, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions, managing complex projects, and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes.

This is a full time position based in Farnborough and belongs to the Technologies Group (EMEA/APAC) reporting to the Projects & Design Manager.

The key responsibilities of a Senior Electronic Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Electronic design and integration with other design specialities, such as mechanical design and software development
  • Leading Product and Project design stages from concept to deployment.
  • Design and implementation of test rigs for design verification and functional testing
  • Generating reports, test specifications and verification procedures, manuals, and master data within the ERP system (Item data, BOMs, Routes)
  • Incorporating Design Change Requests and performing robust Root Cause Analysis and Lessons Learned
  • Liaison with subcontract manufacturers and Quality Assurance providers for design support or certification and qualification purposes
  • Support staff training for succession planning and reduction of any single point failures

The key skills and qualities of a Senior Electronic Engineer are:

  • Qualified to a minimum degree level in relevant field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong and demonstrable electronics design and development skills, microprocessor integration, and analogue circuit design
  • Experience using Spice Simulation and related EDA software
  • Ability to review and work with stakeholders to prioritise workload of self and the electrical team
  • PCB layout CAD skills
  • Analogue signal processing and Video
  • Experience with Digital Video protocols
  • Experience and familiarity with EMC testing equipment and setup
  • Experience of conducting hardware qualification testing
  • Experience in Nuclear and High temperature applications
