About the Role
The Subcontract Manager will be responsible for ensuring the proper award and contractual execution of the subcontracted activities (mainly related to construction) on a specific proposal or project. With the support of subcontract Engineers/Leader, they will implement effective subcontracting management systems, methods and procedures for cost and contractual matters at the office or project level.
The position will be initially based in London/Milton Keynes offices working for NZT project, reporting Hierarchically to the UK Head of Subcontracting department, to carry out the following main tasks:
- Coordinate with Other departments (HSE, Quality, Construction etc.) in preparation of Subcontracting Exhibits as part of Subcontractors scope of work
- Supporting the Site administration to Check and monitor the documentation provided by Subcontractors for invoice substantiation, emission of Payment certificate and payless notice, etc.
- Carry out all duties related to Subcontract scope of work preparation and procedures
- Support Main Construction Contractor in the preparation critical sub subcontracts packages and follow up of tender process
- Follow up in Subcontractors qualification process
- Implements and performs subcontracting management process (including prime contract flow down, procedures issuance, bidder long list, master bid package, evaluation of subcontractors…)
- Performs negotiation, formation and award of formal subcontracts.
In a second phase, The Subcontracts Manager could potentially be mobilized to NZT Site project in Teesside as Site Administration Manager to:
- Manage awarded Construction & EPC LSTK Subcontracts, principally under NEC4 framework
- Issues feedback and statistic (cost, man hours, productivity, quantities, reworks rates, …) reports/records as per corporate guidelines.
- Leads the field administration of subcontracts (including change order and back-charges management) as per procedures and subcontract closeout.
- Studies all justifications given by Subcontractors, for any extra work orders or claims requested, replying to Subcontractors early warnings
- Prepares financial statement format of each subcontract.
- Ensures formal assessment of the subcontractors’ performance.
Typical Background and Experience Required
- Extensive experience in subcontracting activities
- BSc., University degree in any of the main Legal, Business, Construction or Engineering branches, i.e., Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, or equivalent
- Familiarity with NEC/IChemE Forms of Contract and other applicable codes and standards (CDM, NAECI, UK construction laws)
- Engineer grade, understanding the technical disciplines (civil, piping, equipment, electrical, instrumentation).
- Rigorous, autonomous, open-minded, agile, and flexible
- Use of CEMAR software will be considered as plus
- Good interpersonal and influential skills.
