Lufthansa Technik are a global leading provider of maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for the civil aviation industry. This Tool Maker position is on a permanent basis and has become available due to continued growth and expansion.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair of precision tools, jigs, and fixtures used in the manufacturing and assembly of aerospace components. You will operate both manual and CNC machine tools, including milling machines, lathes, and grinders, as well as hand tools.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manufacture, service and repair of tools, assembly jigs and fixtures during the development of new products and support of existing products.
  • Providing advice on tooling design and manufacture for tools used in Assembly, Machining, Plating and NDT operations.
  • Collaborating with Engineering, Production, and other team members to develop and improve tooling solutions.
  • Maintenance and repair of existing production tools.
  • Liaising with Engineering and Production personnel to assist the Engineering design team on tool design and reviewing/checking processes.

Tool room experience is preferable but good all-rounded experience within a workshop environment is essential, preferably in the aerospace industry. A good working knowledge of mathematics and workshop practice to at least City and Guilds Engineering standard is required.

Strong knowledge of machining techniques, materials, and tools is necessary, along with a working knowledge of welding (i.e. Gas, Mig, Tig, and Stick Welding) although this is not essential. Disciplines in the use of CNC machinery, lathes, grinding, milling, and other tool room machinery are expected.

You should have a proven ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and other specifications to ensure tools are manufactured to requirements, as well as the ability to work from engineering drawings from various sources (Internal/OEM/External companies). Working experience in the manufacture of sheet metal fabrication is also beneficial.

We offer a competitive salary package, discretionary bonus scheme, discounted flight benefits, reduced gym memberships, retail and hotel discounts, and seasonal company events.

Please feel free to share this role with your network if this role is for you or not, as there are multiple vacancies available.
