Euro London Appointments is pleased to announce a new Mechanical Engineering opportunity with our client, a company that is a recognized UK and international leader within the RF antennas sector, with significant industry experience and a solid reputation for delivering both custom and standard RF antenna solutions. Its product range spans from high-volume components for multinational clients to low-volume, tailor-made items for niche applications. The company supplies a wide array of sectors, including public safety, defence, transportation, utilities, industrial manufacturing, construction, and consumer products.
The Assistant Mechanical Engineer will report directly to the Senior Engineer and work within a small, focused team. Responsibilities include the complete lifecycle design of new products and auxiliary tools using CAD software, enhancing existing designs, revising technical drawings, managing documentation, and generating inspection reports for product validation.
Key Working Relationships: This role is based at the company’s main office within the design department and involves close collaboration with the electrical engineering, quality assurance, production teams, and external suppliers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Revise specifications and technical data for current product lines and their variations, in collaboration with other technical teams.
- Carry out assigned projects and tasks using sound engineering practices.
- Organize and manage your workload to align with department objectives.
- Maintain effective communication with various internal teams.
- Prepare First Article Inspection (FAI) and Sample Inspection Reports for components, final products, and packaging.
- Support the technical department by handling tasks such as technical drawings, component setup, and managing bills of materials.
- Review engineering drawings and 3D models, providing constructive feedback on any discrepancies.
- Cross-check data across multiple systems for accuracy.
- Work closely with the production and prototyping teams to monitor prototype development and contribute suggestions for improvement.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Timely and high-quality completion of design office tasks.
- Help reduce the number of pending tasks within the design team.
- Aid in shortening task turnaround times based on assigned priorities.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree (or equivalent qualification) in mechanical or design engineering (BEng, BSc, MSc, etc.).
- Prior experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory and may offset formal education requirements.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in using standard office software (MS Office).
- Strong CAD capabilities, with preference for SolidWorks.
- Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering principles.
- Experience in designing jigs or fixtures is advantageous.
Personal Characteristics:
- Capable of independently managing and executing a range of engineering duties, as well as thriving in team-based settings.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Clear and concise technical writing abilities with a high level of written English.
- A proactive, practical attitude with a willingness to be hands-on.
- A keen interest in developing new engineering competencies.
- Enthusiastic about engineering, innovation, and precision design work.
Working hours: Full-time 42.5 hours per week (30 minutes unpaid lunch break and 2 tea breaks paid for 15 minutes each) Monday to Friday 8-5pm with the possibility of 1 day a week working from home after company onboarding and subject to managerial approval.
