Our client is providing support and care for children and young people with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours, promoting independence, choice and valuing individual uniqueness, diversity and achieving outcomes that matter most to the children and young people they care for.

In all their residential settings, they work to create a home environment that exceeds the needs of children and young people.

You should be passionate about children’s and young people’s well-being and have a caring and patient nature.

We are looking for an engaging and positive Care Worker to join our Peterborough service where we support children and young people.

You will need to be able to commit to our rota system that includes day and evening shifts of 15 hours, overnight sleep ins and weekends. More importantly, you will need to commit to being a significant positive influence in the lives of our young people.

No two days are ever the same, sometimes they may be challenging but always positive.

What does a Childcare Worker do?

  • Supporting children and young people on focusing on their education, behaviour, and physical and mental well-being to achieve a positive outcome.
  • Provide an experience of a childhood that they can reflect upon and carry with them into adulthood.
  • Supporting young people to attend appointments, liaise with doctors, social workers on behalf of the young people trying to help them back into the community, helping with schoolwork and assisting with any other outdoor activities.
  • Enabling young people to express their characters, feel safe and enrich their lives through positive behaviours and planned activities.
  • To react in emergency situations quickly and efficiently and to ensure the wellbeing of the young children/people and others.
  • You will be confident in complying with all regulatory requirements, i.e., Health and Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR and Accident Reporting.
  • You will be confident with support plans, risk assessments and able to complete a thorough handover to the rest of the team and management regarding the individual concerned in a positive, structured, and professional manner.
