We are currently partnering with a multidisciplinary consultancy with a global record of successful delivery on a range of projects including, but not limited to, Data Centres, Recladding, Medical Projects, Nursing homes, Clinics and many more. Due to continuous growth, they are now seeking a well experienced Fire Engineer to oversee recladding projects in Scotland with a focus in the Glasgow area.

Responsibilities

  • Design Management & Technical Input
    Take ownership of basic fire safety design tasks, including reviewing and marking up system layouts, coordinating with designers, and ensuring the fire strategy is implemented correctly in construction. Liaise with consultants and subcontractors to resolve design queries and assist with updating fire system schematics when required.
  • On-Site Installation Oversight
    Supervise and verify the correct installation of active and passive fire safety systems (e.g. alarms, smoke control, fire stopping, emergency lighting) to ensure compliance with specifications, British Standards, and relevant building codes.
  • Fire Safety Inspections & Quality Assurance
    Conduct regular site inspections to assess installation quality, identify non-conformities, and work with the site team to implement corrective actions. Maintain installation verification records and support the development of commissioning plans.
  • Client Reporting & Communication
    Prepare professional, detailed inspection reports and compliance documentation for clients, building control, and third-party inspectors. Represent fire engineering interests at project meetings, providing technical updates and recommendations.
  • Regulatory & Standards Compliance
    Ensure that all fire safety work complies with Building Regulations (Approved Document B), the Fire Safety Act, and relevant British Standards (e.g. BS 9991, BS 5839). Promote a best-practice approach to fire safety throughout the project team.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination
    Collaborate closely with design managers, façade engineers, MEP coordinators, and main contractors to align fire protection systems with architectural and services layouts. Support sequencing and integration of fire safety works with overall project programme.

Requirements

  • Degree or HNC in Fire Engineering, Building Services, or a related field
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Glasgow
  • Must have 5+ years experience in a similar role
