Opportunity for Long Term Work
Job Purpose: To safely direct and control the movement of lifting equipment and loads on site using hand and/or radio signals, ensuring that lifting operations are carried out in accordance with regulations and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely sling and direct the movement of loads using appropriate lifting accessories.
- Guide crane operators and other lifting equipment operators during lifting operations.
- Conduct pre-use checks on lifting gear and ensure all lifting operations are carried out safely.
- Communicate clearly using hand signals or radio to ensure safe coordination.
- Assess the load, the environment, and lifting plan to ensure lifting activities are compliant with safety standards.
- Work as part of a lifting team to execute lifts as per the lifting plan and site safety procedures.
- Report any hazards or unsafe practices to the site supervisor or lifting supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation and setting up of lifting operations, including exclusion zones and signage.
- Follow instructions from the appointed person and lifting supervisor.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- CPCS or NPORS Slinger/Signaller certification (or equivalent).
- Understanding of lifting plans and ability to interpret load charts and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of various lifting accessories and their correct use.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with crane operators and site personnel.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation related to lifting operations.
