We are a growing medical device company seeking a Facilities Technician to support the relocation and setup of our new manufacturing site in Harwell. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in both the transition and the ongoing technical operations of a medical device facility, including cleanroom environments, precision assembly equipment, and critical infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Relocation and Setup (Welwyn Garden City to Harwell):
- Assist with the coordination and execution of the site move, including equipment decommissioning, transportation, and recommissioning.
- Work alongside contractors, builders, and internal teams to ensure smooth setup of the new site.
- Support the installation and commissioning of utilities and infrastructure (cleanroom, HVAC, air handling, BMS).
- Ensure health & safety and regulatory compliance during the transition process.
- Maintain and monitor cleanroom environments (ISO-classified), including HVAC, air filtration, and pressure balancing.
- Provide technical support for production equipment including laser welders, ovens, microscopes, soldering stations, and pouch sealers.
- Assist with preventative maintenance, equipment calibration, and first-line fault diagnosis.
- Support electronic assembly tasks under microscopes and in controlled environments as needed.
- Oversee general facilities upkeep, including stores management (dry cabinets, inventory storage).
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with ISO 13485 and GMP standards.
- Liaise with internal teams to support smooth daily operations and respond to facility-related issues.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a technical, facilities, or engineering support role, ideally in a regulated or medical device environment.
- Knowledge of cleanroom operations and environmental controls (HVAC, air handling units).
- Hands-on experience with technical assembly tools and processes (e.g. soldering, microscopes, ovens).
- Understanding of facility maintenance protocols and equipment management.
- Familiarity with ISO 13485 and/or GMP requirements (highly desirable).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach.
- Flexibility to work initially in Welwyn Garden City and transition to the Harwell site.
