The Job Summary:
Wrightbus is the fastest growing production company in Europe. We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Electrical Engineering Design team. Responsible for supporting the development of Electrical Engineering Design, specifically planning and integrating electrical control for bus body and chassis systems, including hardware components, harnesses, and panels.
The Role:
- Support NPD Strategy for EV, FCEV, and HEV electrical control systems.
- Support development of electric powertrain charging systems.
- Participate in vehicle life cycle development from concept to Job 1.
- Work effectively within a cross-functional team on vehicle development.
- Elicit stakeholder requirements for new product developments.
- Select electrical components and systems for vehicle designs ensuring standards compliance.
- Design and specify electrical hardware components for vehicle subsystems.
- Liaise with suppliers and manage progress to meet timing and specifications.
- Assess and analyze components and systems to develop optimal solutions.
- Design and develop CAN communications systems and architecture.
- Design low and high voltage control for bus body and chassis systems.
- Document, validate, and provide FMEA for design reviews and NPD gateways.
- Create technical documentation for vehicle electrical systems and installations.
- Provide and coordinate vehicle test plans and testing of control systems.
- Provide technical assistance to production, support engineers, and customers.
- Develop electrical systems to improve installation ease and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with assembly and manufacturing teams to ensure proper electrical system implementation.
- Provide system technical information and documentation to internal and external customers.
The Requirements:
- HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a relevant engineering environment.
- Experience in commissioning and testing electrical control systems.
- Knowledge of wiring harness design and manufacture.
- Knowledge of electrical control systems hardware design.
- Problem solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer literate.
- Previous experience of dedicated electrical design software (harnesses and Schematics) e.g., 2D CAD.
