The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a reputable main contractor for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join their growing pre-construction team based in Sittingbourne. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established business delivering high-quality commercial and residential projects across the South East.
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical packages, working closely with the wider estimating and design teams. The role requires strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of mechanical systems within the construction industry.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare detailed mechanical estimates for building services and infrastructure projects
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing
- Evaluate and manage risk during the tender process
- Identify value engineering and cost-saving opportunities
- Support the bid team with timely and accurate submissions
- Attend client and site meetings where required
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within construction or building services
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems in construction
- Excellent numerical and IT skills, with experience using estimating software
- Commercial awareness and strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering or related disciplines
