About the Role: Lonsite is working with a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in Ipswich, who are looking to expand their commercial team with the addition of an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor. This role offers a great opportunity for a commercially astute individual to be involved across both pre-construction and live project delivery within the groundworks and civils sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for groundworks and infrastructure projects
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
- Source and negotiate competitive prices from suppliers and subcontractors
- Manage valuations, variations, cost tracking, and final accounts
- Work closely with operational teams to maintain commercial control throughout the project lifecycle
- Attend client and progress meetings as required
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor within groundworks or civils
- In-depth understanding of earthworks, foundations, drainage, roads, and external works
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software (e.g., Causeway or similar)
- HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field
- Based within commutable distance to Ipswich
