Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace Location: South Birmingham Contract Type: Permanent / Full-time Salary: Competitive + Benefits Are you a skilled Manufacturing Engineer with a passion for precision, innovation, and continuous improvement? We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Manufacturing Engineer to help optimise production, enhance quality, and support the industrialisation of exciting new aerospace programmes. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team that thrives on technical challenge, innovation, and delivering right-first-time results. What You’ll Do * Analyse and optimise manufacturing processes to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance. * Lead continuous improvement projects that enhance productivity, reduce waste, and drive Right First Time (RFT) performance. * Support New Product Introductions (NPI) from concept through to production, including tooling, process validation, and documentation. * Collaborate with design, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure manufacturability and seamless production transitions. * Apply APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and SPC principles to achieve exceptional product and process control. * Develop and implement new tooling, fixtures, and gauges to enhance process capability and operator efficiency. * Drive problem-solving activities using 8D, DMAIC, and root cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues. * Ensure all activities align with AS9100 and customer-specific quality standards. What You’ll Bring * Experience in manufacturing engineering within aerospace, defence, automotive, or other high-precision sectors. * A degree or HND in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience. * Strong understanding of process capability, control, and continuous improvement tools. * Proven experience with Lean, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping techniques. * Confident interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T. * Skilled communicator who can influence and engage across functions and levels. Desirable Extras * Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification. * Experience with ERP systems and special processes such as forging, heat treatment, or machining. * Professional registration (EngTech, IEng, or CEng).
