Overview: We are seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Manager to step into a key No.2 role within our commercial leadership team. This position is ideal for a commercially astute individual ready to take on a Managing QS function — acting as a critical link between the Senior Quantity Surveyor and the Commercial Director. You’ll be hands-on in the management of major projects, supporting the wider QS team, and playing a proactive role in department development and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Lead the commercial delivery of larger, high-value projects, ensuring financial targets and risk management protocols are met.
- Team Management: Support and mentor a growing team of Quantity Surveyors, fostering a high-performance culture and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Input: Act as a trusted commercial partner to the senior leadership team — your input will be valued at tender reviews, internal meetings, and client sessions.
- Process & Systems: Drive the adoption and optimal use of Microsoft Dynamics and Eque2 systems to improve commercial efficiency.
- Contract Management: Administer and manage contracts in line with JCT and FIDIC frameworks, ensuring compliance and commercial integrity throughout.
- Department Development: Play a key role in shaping and evolving the commercial function, helping to define processes, standards, and future strategy.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience in a Managing QS or Commercial Manager role, ideally on major construction or infrastructure projects.
- Ideally worked on Data Centre M&E and Data projects or similar.
- Deep understanding of JCT and FIDIC contract forms.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Proficient in commercial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and Eque2.
- Excellent communicator — confident in high-level meetings, tender reviews, and stakeholder discussions.
