Opportunity available for a Cable Systems Design Engineer / Power Systems Engineer, working with a leading power engineering consultancy. The Cable Design Engineer will be responsible for producing LV and HV (11kV - 132kV) cable designs for power distribution projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out power systems studies cable rating / sizing and sheath bonding assessments, as well as load flow and short circuit studies
  • Design of grid connection and private network cables
  • Produce material schedules and technical specifications for cables
  • Review cable aspects for various projects, including interconnectors, offshore and onshore schemes
  • Ensure cable designs follow UK standards, legislation, DNO specifications, company policies and client requirements
  • Issue drawings, including route layouts, cross sections, joint bay layouts, bonding and cable termination diagrams

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Cable Design Engineer or Power Systems Engineer for HV distribution schemes
  • Understanding of NERS requirements, ENA engineering recommendations and grid code for protection settings
  • Degree or equivalent in an Electrical Engineering discipline
