FINTEC recruit is seeking a Vessel Manager for our Marine client in South Shields, Tyne & Wear. Working Monday to Friday, up to salary circa £53,000 depending on experience, plus benefits including medical insurance. There will be a requirement with this role to attain UK SC Clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage vessels in terms of cost effective operation, management, maintenance and repair.
- Manage ship availability within budget, consistent and safe methods of operation.
- Overall management and technical operations of your assigned vessels.
- Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance.
- Monitor all aspects/performance of assigned vessels operation including safety and environmental protection to ensure compliance with the Company’s requirements and prevailing International and Flag State legislation.
- Monitor the inventories of mooring equipment, safety equipment, lifesaving, firefighting equipment and portable instruments.
- Attend vetting and third-party inspections.
Skills and Experience for the Vessel Manager role:
- The Vessel Manager should possess a Class 1 Certificate of Competency as Deck or Engineer Officer and/or relevant experience of seagoing vessels, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Ex-Royal Navy applications welcomed.
- Possess excellent team-working and communication skills and have the ability to facilitate change and motivate others.
- Be highly professional, focused and capable of working in a busy department.
- Able to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Overseeing the safe daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, on-board general assessment of vessels, inspections and docking.
