Our client, a long-established and highly respected structural steelwork contractor, is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their in-house engineering team based in West Yorkshire. With over 85 years of industry heritage, the company specialises in the design, fabrication, and installation of bespoke steel structures for projects across industrial, commercial, retail and education sectors.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned structural or civil engineer with a strong background in steelwork design and delivery. Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview- Lead the design and coordination of bespoke steel structures for industrial, commercial and other sector-specific projects
- Apply in-depth knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards for structural steel design
- Work collaboratively with an in-house design and detailing team
- Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and project documentation
- Liaise directly with architects, contractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing time, quality and technical delivery
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers where appropriate
- Engage with fabrication and site teams to ensure design intent is maintained through manufacture and installation
- Minimum 5 years' post-graduate experience in structural or civil engineering
- Strong background in structural steelwork design, ideally with experience working for a steelwork contractor or steel fabricator
- Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Tekla Structural Designer, MasterSeries, or similar
- Thorough understanding of relevant design codes, including Eurocode 3 and BS5950
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable ability to manage workload across multiple live projects
