The predicted salary is between 48000 - 84000 £ per year.
Day to day you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial aspects of multiple frameworks and projects covering the midlands and south regions of the UK. You will be commercially responsible for the multiple frameworks for our client, along with a key contact between the commercial manager and the existing commercial teams. You will also be responsible for 3 apprentice Quantity Surveyors.
Location: Based in Penketh and may be required on occasion to travel between the other regional offices and to various client and vendor sites.
Dimensions: Working with a small team, to provide Commercial support activities across the Technology project portfolio, typically up to 350 projects ranging in size from £1K to £5M.
Organisation:
- The job holder will report to the Commercial Manager.
- The job holder will liaise closely with the Technology SBU Key Account Managers, SBU Commercial team, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Resource Managers, SI/LV Engineering Team and clients as necessary.
- The job holder will also liaise with SBUs as required to assist in the delivery of Group opportunity contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation, submission and agreement of: Interim Valuations, Variations, Final Accounts, internal weekly progress reports detailing hours spent / earned, Subcontract Payment Certificates, Cost Value Reconciliations.
- Ensure full submission of all contractual notices is always being strictly adhered to.
- Compensation Event Quotations.
- Subcontract costs against allowances, Labour Allocation sheets, monitor Prime Costs to ensure project costs are aligned to achieve contract margin.
- Use and update of internal project database to observe / progress Labour, material, plant, staff, prelims costs etc.
- Control of Risk management techniques.
- Subcontract orders and project tenders and pre-contract information in conjunction with Work Key Account Managers.
- Monitoring of material purchases to ensure materials are bought within tender allowances, where possible.
- Manage the effective commercial delivery of projects in line with overall framework contract margin.
- Keep Framework Key Account Manager & Commercial manager aware of specific cost overruns or risk to effective delivery.
- Undertaking of any other duties that are deemed necessary for the proper execution of the role of Quantity Surveyor.
Reporting/ contract reviews:
- Production of fully substantiated reports each period for CVRs, Cashflow, WIP, Threats and Opportunities.
- Undertake contract reviews and negotiate in line with our clients policies.
Special Features:

- Offer improvement suggestions and innovation to Project Managers, Key Account Managers and other commercial members.
Required Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field and have recent experience in a similar role. Experience of operational management systems (e.g. ERP) is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided where necessary to support these systems.
- You will hold or actively working towards MRICS membership and have a strong understanding of cost management, contract administration and financial reporting, Team work and Drive.
