We are working with a well-established M&E building services contractor in Warrington to find an experienced Commercial Gas Engineer. This mobile role is ideal for someone who is confident working across education and healthcare buildings, with the skill and flexibility to respond to both planned maintenance and the occasional unexpected issue. The position is full-time, permanent, and based from Warrington, with travel across the North-West and Midlands.
About the Company
Our client is a respected M&E contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering reliable mechanical and electrical building services across the UK. Their service and maintenance division is expanding, and they are now looking for a mobile, multi-skilled Commercial Gas Engineer to join their North-West-based team. Working mainly across schools, colleges, hospitals, and healthcare sites, the team is focused on safe, high-quality service delivery with a practical, team-first attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- This is a mobile position covering multiple sites. You will work both independently and as part of a wider mechanical and electrical service team, delivering maintenance and small works across plantrooms and building services systems.
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across commercial sites.
- Servicing and repairing mechanical systems and plant (heating, gas, boilers, pumps etc.).
- Supporting breakdown response and emergency call-outs.
- Diagnosing and resolving faults efficiently and safely.
- Interpreting building services drawings and understanding plantroom layouts.
- Maintaining clear communication with clients and site contacts.
- Completing job reports and basic documentation using handheld or mobile devices.
- Occasionally working away with advance notice (expenses paid).
You will mostly be working in the North-West, but there will be occasional travel to sites in the Midlands, including Birmingham and Nottingham.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years experience working on commercial M&E systems.
- ACS Commercial Gas qualifications (essential).
- Gas Safe registered.
- LPG and F-Gas qualifications (preferred but not essential).
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent.
- Basic electrical qualifications (18th Edition preferred).
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to read and interpret building services drawings.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work alone and within a wider service team.
- Enhanced DBS check (arranged post-employment).
