Reed are working with a well-known brand who are looking for a Health & Safety and Environmental Manager to join their team in Dungannon. This role is crucial for managing Health & Safety and Environmental compliance across all sites, supporting the General Manager in fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The ideal candidate will help the organisation stay compliant, efficient, and sustainable while driving improvements in HSE practices.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Promote and develop a robust safety culture across manufacturing units.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for all employees to promote safe work practices.
- Develop and implement safety protocols, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to industry standards.
- Oversee incident investigations and identify preventive measures.
- Act as a catalyst for commitment to environmental management, ensuring legal compliance and reducing the risk of non-compliance.
- Drive the sustainability strategy implementation to support corporate environmental goals.
- Manage carbon reporting by tracking, analysing, and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions.
- Serve as the liaison with government and regulatory bodies to ensure that all environmental regulations are met and documented.
- Collaborate on ESG initiatives, aligning health, safety, and environmental strategies with broader corporate objectives.
- Plan, conduct, and document safety audits across all manufacturing units, implementing corrective actions based on audit findings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Environmental Management or equivalent with relevant NEBOSH qualifications.
- Practical working knowledge of improving safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Developed a 'safety culture' in an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance, especially PPC permits.
- Experience in carbon footprint reporting and sustainability strategies.
- Familiarity with safety audit processes and safety management systems.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with government bodies and internal teams up to Director level.
- Background in horticulture, agriculture, or manufacturing industries, with relevant certifications in HSE.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of legislation around waste management and animal by-products.
